Purpose: Responsible for providing ongoing, effective and efficient support services to internal and external customers. The main services provided by the Chief Financial Office are financial, supply chain and asset management as well as advisory services on internal control systems. The office has so far developed a number of policies and procedures to guide and support the rendering of its services to ensure an achievement of strategic objective in line with the Public Finance Management Act of 1999.

Be the centre of excellence in financial and fiscal management in the country.

Mission:
To ensure equitable resource allocations for the Province of KwaZulu-Natal analyse and monitor government (provincial and local, including their public entities) revenue and expenditure and instill prudent financial management and good governance.
Through robust public policy research, we contribute to the realisation of government policy priorities by ensuring that government interventions in the economy are targeted, efficient, sustainable, and empower our people.

Strategic objective:
To ensure effective management of the Department’s financial resources in line with statutory requirements.
