COST CUTTING MEASURES SCORES A GOAL FOR KWAZULU-NATAL 29 June 2010

The stringent cost cutting measures of KwaZulu-Natal’s Cabinet-approved Provincial Recovery Plan has paid off. Not only has the Province drastically reduced its deficit for the 2009/10 financial year but it has even exceeded the set target.

It has been six months since these cost-cutting measures were implemented. At the time of implementation, the projected over-expenditure for the 2009/10 financial year in the Province was R5.6 billion (as per September 2009 in-year monitoring (IYM) figures).
