ISP restrictions can significantly hinder online gaming experiences. One common method ISPs use is IP blocking, where specific IP addresses associated with gaming servers are prevented from being accessed. This disconnects gamers from the game servers. Port blocking is another technique; ISPs block specific ports used by online games for data transmission, leading to connectivity issues. Content filtering, which employs Deep Packet Inspection (DPI), can scrutinize internet traffic and filter out gaming-related data. Bandwidth throttling, a subtler approach, involves ISPs deliberately slowing internet speeds for gaming traffic, causing lag and disrupting gameplay. DNS filtering can also be a challenge, as ISPs prevent the resolution of domain names for gaming platforms, making them inaccessible.
