Programme 1 is responsible for providing support service to the core programmes within the department.

This programme is responsible for providing provincial treasury functions in terms of the Public finance Management act. The unit responsible for the Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA) is also under this programme.

KZN TREASURY DEPLOYS RESOURCES TO IMPROVE ITS PERFOMANCE
KZN Treasury will deploy its resources strategically to respond directly to the needs of communities through enhanced support to departments, public entities and municipalities.
Inspired by the State of the Nation andState of the Province addresses, the department’s strategic planning resolutions, and the Provincial Cabinet Lekgotla, the department has emphasised the need to ensure improved and impact-based performance in respect of its legislative role in the province.
The Department continues to provide strategic and tangible support to provincial departments, municipalities and government entities. Clean and good governance remains the backbone of our quest to obtain clean audit outcomes at all government levels in this province.

. Health Deputy Minister Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo who was also at the event deployed as the District Champion also handed over a Wi-Fi connection gadget to the local Maqumbe Clinic so that they will be able to communicate with other health facilities and the department of health.
